I am utterly unsatisfied with this store. I go there from time to time for emergency top up shopping because it is right under my house and then I try to keep my spending to a minimum. I find that this store is run in a very unprofessional way, and I am surprised that the store can still get by. The problems are the following:
1) The prices are really high compared to the competition, which results in low visitors count, and most people only buy small baskets as far as I noticed. It is consistently true for probably all items in the assortment that they are priced far above the competition.
2) They have a serious problem with shelf life. Too many times I have seen expired products on the shelves, at times there was even cheese with green mould on it which I gave to the personnel to throw away. Just today (02/06/2017) my husband noticed pre-packed cold cuts on the shelf with expiry dates of a week ago (!). While other retailers clearly label and discount their close expiry products, Spar puts them in front to trick customers into buying them. Not to mention that it never happens that I come across expired meat (!!!) on the shelves of other retailers while at Spar it has happened already a number of times. This is unacceptable, the customer should be able to trust the retailer to have carefully quality checked the assortment.
3) They don't employ enough personnel (probably because of the low traffic), which results in the fact that the few employees have to juggle between checking the shelves, standing at the bread counter, standing at the deli fresh department and standing at the check out counter. It happens often that people have to wait a while before they can pay, only because the employee is still busy doing something else. I wonder why they installed the self-scan counters and then never use them - I have never seen them work, probably because the low visitor count does not justify setting it up.
4) The private label product quality is in general fine, except for the pre-packed meat cold cuts. They just taste like poor quality meat. Moreover, some bake-off products such as sliced bread there is no appropriate label listing the ingredients, allergenic information and nutritional details of the product. I’m not sure this is even allowed under European law?
Based on the above I would suggest seriously reconsidering the strategy of this store. As a customer it is really not a good feeling doing grocery shopping there.

Fijne winkel maar ah is nogsteeds de helft goedkoper, dus kiezen we vaker daarvoor. Ook misschien er aanbiedingen met name op kranten bier, wasmiddel wc papier luiers en andere bulk producten. Vers afdeling is uitmunten en gekoelde dranken ook. Assortiment is na verbouwing voldoende. Winkelindeling prima ruim opgezet

Over het algemeen tevreden alleen vrouwelijk personeel die bij de broodjes en sap staat rigide als je vraagt om een ander belegd broodje dan er al ligt en/of beleg. Ik heb het gevoel dat ik hen lastig val. Jammer
