This is the fourth tent we buy from Obelink. One pop-up tent (Evolution 2) and three bigger tents: First Athene (tunnel, half-circle shaped), then Living (tunnel with flatt sidewalls) and now Lugano 6 (tunnel, half-circle shaped).
Athene, (tunnel, half-circle shaped sidewalls) with glass fibre rods withstood two storms without any problem, it shook some, but the wind went over it thanks to the convex shape. (It was however destroyed a sunny and calm day after 8 years when I accidentally cut it with a metal rod...)
The Living, however, had (has) straight metal rods from ground to roof, and therefore also streight walls, which looks good but makes it much more sensitive to wind. During a storm the walls bulged inwards, the wind got an even more firm grip which the tent could not cope with. The rods were bent inwards, the tent lines were torn apart, then the rods broke off completely and the tent was leveled to the ground.
We learned the lesson and this tent (Lugano 6) has the right shape: The side walls form a half circle, so it is much more safe at high windspeeds.
We received the package two days after order/payment, we set it up on a lawn and everything was OK. One very good thing: The floor attaches to the front with a velcro strip that goes all the way from left to right. So the tent is both wind, water and insect tight when the front door is closed. On the living there were only a few points where the floor was attached to the front, so both wind and insects could find their way into the tent via the opening between floor and front.
The floor of the Athene was not attached to the tent at all, so during heavy rain when water was standing a cm on the ground, it was just as high on the floor indoors.
Lugano 6 seems like the most well thought-out design of all the tents we have owned so far. The convex shape makes it stable also in heavy wind, the sewn-in floor with the velcro tape attachment on the front makes it tight, and I also like the vents over the front side windows making ventilation possible also dusing a rain.
We really look forward to our next camping vacation in the Netherlands.
